Risks & Complications

Cosmetic surgery similar to other surgeries has its risks and possible complications. Selecting a good surgeon and following the pre and post operative instruction stringently greatly minimises the risks associated with the procedures.

General Risks and complications associated with surgery are :

• Haematoma : Collection of blood beneath the skin.
• Seroma
• Swelling
• Bruising
• Pain
• Infection
• Nerve Damage : Occurs in less than 1% of patients
• Sensory changes : Numbness,pain, tingling
• Skin blistering and necrosis
• Pigmentation (hyper or hypo)
• Muscle weakness
• DVT - Pulmonary emboli
• Skin irregularities
• Scarring : Lumpy/irregular scars, wide scars, pigmentation changes, Keloids
• Anaesthetic Risk
  • Drug reaction
  • Chest infection
  • High blood pressure
  • Fever
